Weekly Reflection #2 5/22/22 9:00pm

 Weekly Reflection #2 5/22/22 9:00pm

Week two has come to an end. I can't believe how fast it's gone by. This week was a great week. We got alot done and I learned a lot. One thing that has been surprising to me is how much I've enjoyed the Sophomore Seminar. The class is a really fun group, and they are really good about interacting with each other as a class. When I originally thought about my project I wasn't even thinking about sophomore seminar, but to get it as part of my senior project has been great for me. I think another great part about Sophomore seminars is the age they are. It's a great way to see what teaching a high school age student is like.

Other than the Sophomore seminar, I have really enjoyed my time in Sports Medicine. It's been a very different feel than Sophomore seminar, because the class has been doing their presentations so it's been less interactive as a class.I have really seen another aspect of teaching with this class. That would be helping students work on in depth presentations. I know as a student it can be hard to put together a presentation, doing research and getting the right facts, but sitting on the other side of it has been really interesting. Kelly has also given me more freedom with this class because I took it last year and did this exact presentation. She had me lead the class one day alone which was a great learning moment. That class, one of the students came to me while working to ask for assistance with their presentation. Being the one who was helping was definitely a different feeling, because they wanted my approval so I had to know exactly what I needed to be looking for in the presentation. I looked through their material and gave feedback on what I believed should be added or changed to help make the presentation more clear and accurate.

Both of these aspects of teaching have been very interesting to learn more about and understand. I think one of the best parts of this senior project so far is the things I've learned that I will be able to take with me in so many different settings. Teaching isn't just about the classroom, there are so many different environments where understanding the aspects of teaching come in handy. I think these skills will help me so much!

Day 5 - 5/13/22 8:00pm

Day 5 - 5/13/22 8:00pm Day five was a blast! The highlight of today was Sophomore Seminar. In the class, we are going over safe sex and different types of contraceptives. The sophomores got to see all the different types, some they had never heard of. One of the sophomores in particular was super enthusiastic about it. She tried to see how big she could stretch a condom. I think everyone in the class learned something which is the most important part!  Today 5 hrs Total 27.25 hrs

Weekly Reflection 5/15/22 8:30pm

Weekly Reflection 5/15/22 8:30pm Week one! It's hard to believe it's already been a full week of senior project, it's flown by. This week was a really great week. I am LOVING my senior project, and more importantly, I'm learning a ton. This week was super busy but I'm glad it's packed with things to do throughout the day. This week checked the boxes in terms of what I had expected. It's super interesting to really see what goes into all the different parts of Kelly's job. Being able to help and learn about all the different “hats” Kelly wears adds a lot of layers to our days. For example one minute we are going through the senior project blogs or talking about safe sex with the sophomore seminar class, and the next we are on our way back to the training room to help fill the water jugs and ice chests for games or practices.  Having worked with the athletic trainers before in the training room, I know alot about how the facility works, and what goes o...

Day 14 - 5/24/22 9:30pm

Day 14 - 5/24/22 9:30pm The final day of the senior project. Holy cow I can't believe it's gone by so quickly. Today was a big day with lots of things to do. We started the day with Sports Medicine, where the class presented their projects they had worked on. It was great to see all the work they had done come together in some fantastic presentations! After class, we went down to the training room for an advisory.  We need to start cleaning the training room, so I cleaned the hydroculators, cleaned out the last few water jugs, and cleaned the hose water wheel. We found a frog on it and I returned it to the wild. I also alphabetized forms that needed to be organized. We had the last sophomore seminar class of the term to wrap up our day.  Today 4.5 hrs Total 62 hrs
