 Weekly Reflection 5/15/22 8:30pm

Week one! It's hard to believe it's already been a full week of senior project, it's flown by. This week was a really great week. I am LOVING my senior project, and more importantly, I'm learning a ton. This week was super busy but I'm glad it's packed with things to do throughout the day. This week checked the boxes in terms of what I had expected. It's super interesting to really see what goes into all the different parts of Kelly's job. Being able to help and learn about all the different “hats” Kelly wears adds a lot of layers to our days. For example one minute we are going through the senior project blogs or talking about safe sex with the sophomore seminar class, and the next we are on our way back to the training room to help fill the water jugs and ice chests for games or practices.

Having worked with the athletic trainers before in the training room, I know alot about how the facility works, and what goes on during sports, but as a student, you forget or don't see the work that is put in while we are in classes. It's not easy filling eight water jugs and five ice chests. Because of the warm weather this week, we also would make cold towel chests for games, and we filled both ice baths which are fifty-two degrees cold. When I worked in the training room it was in the winter so we never really had heat-related illness, so getting to learn all the precautions used in real-time is super great.

The athletic training room is one of these hats Kelly has, and it was the one I had the most knowledge about prior to my project. I have learned so much about senior projects and teaching just this week. Kelly's role as senior project coordinator doesn't just stop once seniors have picked their projects and are on their way, she has to work on some aspect of it every day while we are doing our projects. Whether checking our blogs and commenting on them or helping seniors who are having small hiccups in their projects, Kelly is on it. I've gotten to go through the blogs a few times, helping Kelly make sure they were done, and in the process getting to read some pretty cool blogs. In class as well, I've loved learning while also helping to teach. In the classes, especially Sophomore Seminar, it's fun to see the class having fun while learning and enjoying classes. It has been a great first week and I'm so excited to continue to grow and build off of this first week!
